Darker Than Pitch-Black / John Carpenter's Film Festival
[OBJECTIVE] Choose a film director and analyze his work to design a comprehensive film festival. Find a common thread that goes through each of the director’s films, and visualize a design system that is cohesive. Create a visual system that can be used on multiple products, including branding and packaging. [APPROACH] The director I chose was John Carpenter, who is associated with horror, action, and science fiction films during the 1970s and 1980s. His movies often place ordinary people into a life-and-death situation where they only can save themselves by facing their supernatural threat. I used acrylic to present a shapeless fear, and black matte metal shows the power to resist fear.
